Nutrition Philosophy

The days of “dieting” are over.

There is no magic combination to what one should eat to lose weight and keep it off. Having a healthy balanced diet will keep the body fueled and energized to perform optimally.  Cutting out essential nutrients only will slow the body down and make it take longer for it to do its job.  There is, however, a magic number of calories one should eat to reach his/her goals.

Research has shown time and time again that losing weight is a mathematical equation.  Calories in must be lower than calories out.  Many popular diet plans make people believe that their “gimmick” is what’s behind weight loss success.  In reality, they all have one thing in common - they are low caloric programs allowing people to burn more calories than they consume.  Unfortunately most if not all of these programs will have people eating way too little causing them to gain the weight back once they stop dieting and return to their normal eating habits.

We have been programmed from birth that we needed to finish everything on our plate.  Our grandmothers showed their love through home cooked meals and sinful baked goods.  But we weren’t told that we were eating 3-4 times more than what our bodies require. Portion sizes have inflated over the years.  Unfortunately one-third of the American population’s waistline has kept up with the ever-growing portion sizes.  The good news is that it doesn’t take much to learn the right way to eat and reverse this unhealthy trend.

As long as one is eating enough for their metabolism and burning more than that amount on a daily basis, one can lose weight and keep it off without much stress.  The key to successful weight loss is to know how to eat and never be on a diet in the first place.

Learning how to eat to be healthy comes with complementary weight loss.   Just like when you buy a new computer, you need to read the manual before you actually start using the computer and installing the programs that you would like to use.  Most people don’t take the time to read their “nutrition manual” and things are not installed properly.  Once you have learned the fundamentals, eating healthy will be simple and then the weight will come off and stay off.
